It was tough to seek this note at the commence of season 6. Laurie had married Fez at the destroy of season 5 and all hell had broken loose. Red had a heart attack. THis was going to be an integral allotment of the sixth season. But lo, and discover. THey had to change it because the portion of Laurie will now be played by Christina Moore instead of Lisa Robin Kelly. I was ready to give up on the display. But the writers muddled through somehow, by minimalizing Laurie’s involvement and focusing more on the Red-Fez dynamic and Fez’s desire to become an american citizen. Once they did that, I was satiated. Crisis averted.
Another aspect I enjoyed was the sense of impending doom with the gang. Kelso went off to police academy after he knocked up a hot librarian (and in typical Kelso fashion botched both with disasterous results), Eric and Donna location a date to accept married, all the while expressing their doubts and fears about whether it was the correct thing to do, and Hyde and Jackie got succor together, but kept sparring over the direction of their relationship. Most of these storylines would have longlasting effects on the characters and the directions their lives would ultimately hold. This season is the one where they became adults, more or less.

And of course, who could forget Pam, Jackie’s mom, hooking up with Bob? This was one of the better twists of the season, as it really forced Donna and Jackie to kind of position aside their feelings towards the others parent and work together to pry them apart without getting anyone harm.
Overall, it was a gracious season. Not the best. But collected solid. THe best season, IMHO, would be season 3, due mostly to Dine and Go, and the breakup of eric and donna. But calm, what a reveal. I sorely miss it, and wish Topher Grace had not gotten that fragment in SPider Man 3. We can manage without Kelso, but no Eric was a point to killer.
The Kids Are Alright–Hyde finds a fresh worship, which makes Jackie jealous.

So my wife and I started watching Slow Like Me on Video On Quiz, and were both so caught up in it that we didn’t want to wait for the second season to be made available that blueprint… so we ordered the box area.
The box state *includes* “Life After Death”, the movie MGM made in 2008.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Dead Like Me: The Complete Collection! Click Here
Let me initiate with the DVDs of the ShoTime TV series:
Disks 1 through 4 occupy the series pilot, and the 14 episodes of season 1.
Disks 5 through 8 possess the 15 episodes of season 2 and the bonus features for the series.
Up through here, that’s 5 stars. If I could have give 6, I would.
Disk 9… contains the straight-to-DVD movie.
If you’re fervent in DLM and reading this review (and the many others), I don’t have to instruct powerful about the series – they stand firm as they always did, in high, widescreen quality, uncensored and uncut (and the bonus features hold a bunch of deleted scenes and other fun stuff about the series.
The movie, though. Oh dear lord, the movie.
The movie was made to appeal to an audience that is not in the know about what DLM is about – so the first 15, 20 minutes are an introduction (with cuts from the series), done in comic-book style, with Georgia Lass (Ellen Muth) narrating about what the premise of the record is. After the introductions are done, we’re introduced to a flaky storyline about Rube (Mandy Patinkin, direly missed in the movie) having gotten his light, and having been replaced by a Cameron Kane (played by Henry Ian Cusick), who… has… some sort of agenda, conception, whatever, and uses the merry band of reapers to… cause chaos… or something, by having them mess up their reaps.
Hm.
The role of Daisy Adair was performed by Sarah Wynter, who – I’m obvious – is a gigantic actress… impartial not a stout Daisy. The series’ last episodes had gone through stout lengths to turn Daisy into someone with a secret that’s eating her, a seemingly callous but very human, confused and distress woman, who warmed up with every episode, showed dismay, treasure and notion.
In the movie, however, Daisy is a callous, wearisome, selfish, vulture-like and petty wanna-be actress, with no depth, no heart and no struggle. One of the bonus features actually tried to interpret away the Daisy fragment, but regardless of the reasons, it was painful to observe, and did not do the fragment of Daisy Adair any justice – better they had had her “obtain her light”, unbiased like Rube. Callum, Ellen and Jasmin Guy could have carried it off by themselves…
… or maybe they honest shouldn’t have bothered at all.
The storyline about the relation between George and Reggie (Britt McKillip) was done nicely, and actually allows for some feeling of closure.
My initial conception was to collect the series, and rent the movie to notice if it was worth buying.
If you remove this box, the movie is included… but if you already have the series, and judge yourself a hardcore DLM fan, do not bother with the movie. It felt like it was thrown together in a hasten (and the fact that *neither* of the writers of the movie had been alive to with the series shows, gigantic time), and feels more like an extended “crap, we need a finale” episode than anything else…
Aside from the Reggie/George interaction, the only apt things about the movie were:
1. We finally got to eye Murray the cat
2. The very, very last scene, after some consideration (had to sink in for a moment) .
My wife and I… we’ll toss in the series, every now and then, for a DLM marathon session… the movie will remain in its box, though. It’s allotment of the status, but as far as we’re concerned… only to withhold the outside box from being too wide for the series’ DVDs.
And that’s why the product gets only 4 stars… I’m not averaging (the movie would develop the average be negative, and that’s no apt) because the series and bonus features are profitable, as expected. The movie unprejudiced… takes it down a notch. Dim, but good.
This series is one of my all-time favorites, easily worth five stars.
The notice unusual movie, Expressionless Like Me: Life After Death (gape my separate review there), however, is not. To say I was disappointed by it would be an understatement. As films go, it is complete junk.
However, buying the situation is composed very powerful a worthwhile remove if, like me, you didn’t already bear the DVD sets for the TV series’s two seasons. The series itself is broad fun to discover, beautifully written and acted, with characters that have depth; for this reason, I’ve given a five-star rating, as this is the best device to collect this valid series on DVD. But the movie is a jarring contrast: badly written, with characters whose previous complexities have been thrown out the window, and a mind-numbingly, painfully plain status.

The Lucky Star OVA is unbiased what I was hoping it would be–more of the Lucky Star series without any character derailment. The OVA covers 5 or so different “stories”, ranging from getting lost on a camping bound to playing Konata’s MMO to a very surreal visit to a pet shop.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Lucky Star OVA! Click Here
The DVD itself is very bare-bones. The audio is only in Japanese 2.0, and the English subtitles may be turned on or off. The only other options on the DVD are scene selection, and a textless ending. For Lucky Star fans who occupy subtitling (myself included), this DVD is exactly what you are looking for. For those who rob the dub, this is not a 5-star retract.
The ending itself is a “special” live-action episode of Lucky Channel, starring Shiraishi Minoru (himself) and Kogami Akira (Konno Hiromi), which is a treat to anyone who enjoyed The Adventures of Shiraishi Minoru episodes from the Extras of the other Lucky Star DVDs.
Like the incredible series; the OVA does not disappoint; and I would hope an OVA is NOT like the TV series or manga it is based off of; definition of OVA: “OAVs are supposed to have novel scripts, although there are exceptions. They can be based on a Manga or TV series, but the particular episode should be fresh.” Most OVAs are often re-tellings of the recent stories, offshoot stories, or a completely different catch. I hope a second series of Lucky Star will be produced.

Viva Maria! Streaming.
Movie Title: Viva Maria! Viva Maria! is available for streaming or downloading. |
Viva Maria is a wonderfully sexy, screwball, and at times surreal period comedy starring the two vast French sex symbols of the sixties – Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau. I must admit that when I first saw the film (when I was young and impressionable) I was primarily attracted to the sure charms of La Bardot. But now that I am older and wiser (well, older anyway) I can fully savor the subtle sensuality of Jeanne Moreau whose fair eyes alone could seduce any man. Together, these two invent a formidable team and seem to genuinely spark off each other.
The status is suitably comic. In some unnamed South American country, Bardot is an Irish (!) terrorist’s daughter who has learned all the tricks of the trade before suddenly becoming orphaned. On the speed from the authorities, she takes refuge with a motley band of travelling performers whose shows seem to mix circus and music hall. Moreau is a star attraction although she has honest lost the partner in her double act. Naturally, the two girls – both named Maria – ruin up on stage together where problems with the costumes lead to some savory striptease sequences. The girls are a mountainous hit – no surprise!
The troupe’s travels lift them to a country in the midst of revolution. Moreau falls for the rebel leader – George Hamilton, of all people, trying hard to discover morose and sparkling. When he is killed (murky for Maria, relief for the audience) the two Marias retract over leadership of the rebels – inspired by Moreau’s zeal and Bardot’s technical knowledge of explosives.

The film rattles along at a brisk lunge, littered along the intention with saucy humour and snide seek gags. There is a marvellous supporting cast to jolly things along, chief among them the funny Claudio Brook as the head of the troupe – a crack shot obsessed with developing a gun to shoot around corners. And, as is Louis Malle’s habit, there are also some bitingly amusing digs at the Catholic Church. This is not a film to be taken seriously, as its many surreal touches point to. For example, the skeleton of a horse and rider. Or the immense sunless border guards who drink tea and explain English with impeccable Oxbridge accents. It says a lot for the ensemble playing that the film is mild fun when Bardot and Moreau are not on shroud.
But, of course, it’s improbable when they are – Bardot the naughty kitten who enjoys sex and explosives equally, and Moreau the slightly more used cat: sleek, sensuous and seductive. I dislike to exclaim you about the dreams I had for weeks after seeing her esteem scene with Hamilton – in a prison with him chained to a wall.
Not a mammoth film, perhaps, but certainly superlative entertainment. It would design a huge double feature with Philippe de Broca’s “King of Hearts”. The video version is also extemely well done, with colorful yellow easy-to-read subtitles, even if they occasionally smart up the translations.

Viva Bardot! Viva Moreau!
A aesthetic film. Two hours of nonstop, off-the-wall fun. “Viva Maria” recalls the better 70s productions of Roger Corman, because it shares their basic reliance on violence, sex, and titillation for entertainment… without sacrificing quality in narrative, character, or performance. It is the closest Louis Malle has ever reach to an exploitation film, and further proof that Malle was one of the suitable cinematic geniuses of the 20th century, on par with Fellini and Bergman, and literally incapable of making a less-than-superb movie.
The first hour of the characterize is more toothsome than the second, with Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau as vaudevillians who do a series of striptease acts for Central American audiences, around the turn of the century. As the film progresses, Malle makes the striptease scenes randier and randier, and at one point, we almost fill that the two actresses will go all the blueprint (Bardot comes so terminate that my jaw dropped initiate) . Yet the strongest element of the film — also fully realized during this half — is its new, quirky humour. The Central Americans’ reactions to the Bardot/Moreau circus are a laugh riot, and the eye gags highly original; I’ve never seen anything like them in a movie before.
The second half isn’t dreadful — for about thirty minutes, it slows down a bit as Bardot & Moreau become revolutionaries, and Malle shifts to pure action and Peckinpah-style violence — but even these scenes, in their believe plan, are interesting — and the humor resurfaces in the slay of the film, *coupled* with violence, for an improbable enact.
Because of the clearly contrived memoir (the concept of putting two major French female sex symbols in a movie that involves strippers and guns), this is the type of film that could’ve turned into a major flop, yet Malle and his co-screenwriter pulled it off. “Viva Maria”’s success is attributable to strong writing, two fair lead performances, and, of course, those two elements that never fail to entertain — sex and violence.
Highly recommended.

I procure it challenging that this film’s reviews reveal a wide range of plan. The premise is an queer one: blend the ragged Chicken Microscopic tale (a small chicken gets hit on the head by an acorn, believes the sky is falling, panics, incites fright in others, and becomes a laughingstock) with, of all things, H.G. Wells’s “War of the Worlds”!
Buy,Download, Or Stream Chicken Little! Click Here
In this hybrid, Chicken Itsy-bitsy, voiced annoyingly well by Zach Braff, is hit on the head, creates a horror, becomes a laughingstock, and then tries to procure his social set amongst the other “kids” (all different kinds of animals), plus tries to bag his loving father’s respect. His father, voiced paternalistically perfectly by Gary Marshall, is a single father, who loves his only child, but he was also deeply embarrassed by the sky-is-falling fiasco.
Chicken Shrimp has three friends: Petite, an mountainous piglet with self-esteem issues, voiced neurotically well by Steve Zahn; Abby “Shocking Duckling” Mallard, who is a cornucopia of well-intentioned and sometimes reasonable pop psychology advice, voiced offbeatly by Joan Cusack; and Fish Out of Water, an irrepressibly blissful runt fish wearing a diving helmet filled with water, voiced perfectly unintelligibly by Dan Molina. The quartet are busy trying to survive school, leer pressure, grievous social ranking, and frequent embarrassments, and are doing quite well at it. There are also some very sterling voice-cameos: Don Knotts as Mayor Turkey-Lurkey, Patrick Stewart as the teacher, and Frank Willard as the “visitor” father.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Chicken Little! Click Here
And then, the unthinkable happens: the sky falls on Chicken Little’s head again, one year after the first incident. Chicken Small, and then his friends, realize that this is actually a Conclude Encounter of the Third (or Fourth? ) Kind, that evolves into a full-scale alien invasion, because of a moment of parental distraction and a mammoth misunderstanding. Can the quartet assign the world and avoid an unnecessary interplanetary war? Can Chicken Microscopic salvage his father to occupy in him? Those two issues are inextricably interwoven.
The account is delicate off-the-wall, but is fun to spy, and lends itself to lots of action and interaction. The father-son bid, and the parent-child disclose, are dealt with nicely. I feel that the animation is very righteous, and harkens help to classic cartoons of yesteryear. The colors were shining, and there was large attention to detail (e.g., the traffic light was accelerate by a chameleon, who changed color along with the trace being held up) . I very grand liked how the different animal citizens of Oakey Oak acted somewhat like people, but also retained their natural, realistic aspects (e.g., the dog family did eat in a restaurant, but ate their food accurate out of a bowl, and lapped up their beverages) . Even the vehicles driven by the animals were customized to each species, and the vehicles seemed to be fair as considerable alive as their passengers.
Among the special features of the DVD, you can view most of the actors doing their voiceover performances. And, instead of offering us alternative endings, we can recognize three alternative openings to the anecdote, including one where Chicken Miniature is a girl instead of a boy.
Is this a top-notch, fun film for younger children and for families with young children? I judge it is. Will it appeal to teenagers? Probably not. Will parents earn any objectionable in it? I highly doubt it. Will adults like it as powerful as, say, “Shrek” or “Ice Age”? No, the humor does not strike different levels like it does in those films. But, adults will probably luxuriate in it for at least one viewing, and smile a lot.
I have to add that the one character, Fish Out of Water, is one of my common titillating characters ever. I found him to be irresistibly likeable. Mom, can I have one? I promise to purchase care of him! Please!
I took my 7 year former son and 5 year frail daughter to this movie thinking it was going to be a stupid kids movie. Boy was I surpised when I laughed impartial as mighty as my kids, may be more. There was adult humor and songs from my past that went proper by them but was very humorous to me!

Movie Title: The Pajama Game The Pajama Game is available for streaming or downloading. |
I can’t understand why this DVD doesn’t rate a total 5 stars here! It’s one of the best DVDs I have because it looks absolutely exquisite, the songs are expansive, the space is droll – but so what?, the like sage is huge, the chemistry between John Raitt and Doris Day is out of this world, the “extra” on the DVD is honorable (an outtake from the film of Doris singing a song that was dropped from the film!) …I can’t earn enough of this DVD! It should glean awards for relate quality! If I wanted to sell someone on DVDs in general, I’d bewitch this DVD as evidence of their superiority over videos. And whatta FUN film!!
Labor relations in a pajama factory. This is the world into which songwriters Adler and Ross managed to weave a string of Broadway standards (”Hey There”, “Hernando’s Hideaway”) in the musical “The Pajama Game”.
In 1955 it opened on Broadway with legendary director George Abbot at the helm and newcomer Bob Fosse making his debut as choreographer. John Raitt (the modern Billy Bigalow in “Carousel”), Eddie Foy Jr., and Retta Shaw all earned praise for their work and Carol Haney delivered a career-making performance in a supporting role. (A week after the expose opened, Carol Haney was ill so her understudy, chorus girl Shirley McLaine, went on in the share with no rehearsal. She was a enormous success, especially to film producer Hal Ashby who was in the audience to gawk Haney. He brought McLaine to Hollywood to star in his upcoming Hitchcock film, which started Shirley’s career.)
In 1957 Warner Brothers brought the entire cast and production team from Current York to do the film version. All, that is, but one. Janice Paige was replaced by Doris Day as Babe Williams, the feisty union garment worker opposite John Raitt’s suave role as Pajama Factory manager, Sid Sorokin.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Pajama Game! Click Here
Doris Day comes across with a bit more grit in both her acting and her speak than many may be expecting. But she makes a vast Babe – whether belting “I’m Not At All in Cherish” or cooing the romantic ballad “Hey There”. John Raitt is equally adept as Sid and does so well with his tough guy qualified looks, that you wonder why Hollywood failed to cast him in any of his previous stage hits. But it’s that chunky baritone teach that knocks you over. A screech of such lush timbre that contemporaries like Frank Sinatra and Gordon McRae pale in comparison.
Carol Haney is a hoot as the zany (and at one point hilariously drunk) bookkeeper, Gladys. And Eddy Foy Jr, a passe vaudeville clown shows off as her insanely jealous boyfriend. (Ever hear of Eddie Foy and the Seven Itsy-bitsy Foy’s? That’s where Eddie Jr. got his commence with his father and siblings.) The script also allows minute chorus parts like Barbara Nichols as the dopey blond Poopsie, Thelma Pelish as the zaftig Mae, and Jack Straw as the nebbish Prez to shine in their roles and even gives them some of the best lines. (Mae: I like a man with spunk. Poopsie: You like a man, period!)
Broadway’s George Abbot teamed with Stanley Donen (”Singing in the Rain”) as director. But the other breakout talent here was Bob Fosse (”Cabaret” and “All That Jazz”), doing his first (credited) choreography for film. He stages the star turns (Day’s “Not at All in Admire” and Raitt’s “Shrimp Talk”, for example) like a pro. But he shines in the chorus numbers. Once a Year Day” explodes in athletic dances reminiscent of Michael Kidd (”Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “Hello Dolly”) . And the mysterious “Hernando’s Hideaway” is done in total darkness with the singers lit only when they strike a match.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Pajama Game! Click Here
But the number that shows us what Fosse would become is undeniably “Steam Heat”. What would normally have been a throw-away number (a shrimp amateur entertainment for a union rally) is infused with the slinky, inverted style that would become his trademark. No one had ever seen anything like it in 1957, and it “stops the display”, so to pronounce, were that possible in film.
For all the music and humorous shenanigans, the film never looses the flavor of working class people in a itsy-bitsy factory town. “Pajama Game” may not top its contemporaries like “Gigi” and “Singing in the Rain” – but it’s not trying to. It’s honest a nick of middle America filled with some ravishing song and dance numbers and some of the top Broadway stars of the day.

Katherine Bigelow reportedly wanted to acquire an faded Western movie… mixed with a vampire romance. The result was something that could have been a misfortune.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Near Dark! Click Here
Instead “Come Murky” is a deeply underappreciated slight cult movie, which demonstrates that talent and originality in vampire movies isn’t quite gone. Bigelow smoothly intertwines eerie otherworldliness with a grimy, gritty Western flavour, and spreads the resulting atmosphere over a clever, tightly-written script and some solid acting from Adrian Pasdar and Jenny Wright.
Small-town boy Caleb (Pasdar) encounters an ethereal young woman named Mae (Wright) on the street one night. They seem to be shyly hitting it off… until she bites him and leaves.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Near Dark! Click Here
Before Caleb knows it, the sun literally causes his skin to burn, and he’s been yanked into the RV of a gang of vampire drifters — Mae among them. They’re a beautiful mean bunch, and even their leader Jessie Hooker (Lance Henriksen) gives him only one week to point to himself. But Caleb refuses to give in to “instinct” by drinking blood and killing his victims, which causes some problems.
Meanwhile, Caleb’s father (Tim Thomerson) and the local police are searching for the missing young man — and when Caleb manages to effect the vampires from the cops, they finally obtain him. But then one of them develops a crush on Caleb’s kid sister Sarah, and Caleb finds himself torn between his uncommon novel life and his family’s safety. Even if he can somehow be cured of his vampirism, can he hope to raze an entire bloodsucker gang out to demolish him?
“Arrive Sunless” is one of those cult movies that doesn’t have a gargantuan enough cult — it gets overshadowed by other 1980s vampire movies like “Interview with the Vampire” and “The Lost Boys,” despite having itsy-bitsy in celebrated with them. The vampires in it are dirty, amoral, trashy and casually cruel as only human beings freed from mortality and law can be (”Remember that fire we started in Chicago? “) — which is an all-too-probable result if someone were to become a vampire.
And Bigelow gives the movie a current atmosphere, setting it in the grimy, dusty tiny towns of Oklahoma and filling it with blood, guns and nighttime streets — in fact if it didn’t have vampires, you’d assume it was a coming-of-age epic about falling in with a awful crowd. But there are also a number of sweet romantic scenes, which are all the more striking because they don’t find over-the-top or cheesy.
And there’s a level-headed, understated visual power to Bigelow’s directing style, whether it’s Caleb tottering across a field with smoke pouring from his clothes, or an erotic blood-drink against a pumping oil rig on a lightning-filled night. And her script is a aesthetic solid one as well, with righteous dialogue ranging from the quietly resplendent (”… I’ll mild be here when the light from that star gets down here to earth…”) to macabrely silly (”It’s finger-lickin’ Superior!”) .
Pasdar is intense and gutsy as a nice young country boy who has the exertion to secure turned into a vampire against his will, and Wright is wispily endearing as the only vampire who sympathizes with him. Some of the supporting vampires gather kind of 2-D and over-the-top at times, but Henriksen does an outstanding job as their weary, battle-scarred leader, and Joshua John Miller does a wonderful job as a vampire trapped in a tiny boy’s body.
As for the DVD, this is a frustrating one. Aside from the pander-to-the-Twilight-fans conceal, they’ve apparently not bothered to add any extras to the DVD. It’s a bare-bones release, aside from the polished-up resolution and sound of the movie itself.
“Arrive Shadowy” is a darker, grittier effect of vampire movie, and while it’s blessed with solid acting, smart direction and like a flash script, the fresh slant on vampires is one of the best parts.
With titillating characters and myth, this is a rare recent catch on the vampire belief (no tired Romanticism here) . The theme of vampirism-as-addiction has been musty before, but not as well, and never so apt to the grim and gritty reality of life as a fiend.

This late-’80s comedy-musical from video director Julien Temple (Absolute Beginners) has an infectiously buoyant if dumb charm and plays like a cross between Little Shop of Horrors and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. If you loved either of those movies, you’ll have a fondness for this one, otherwise you’ll be irritated beyond belief. Geena Davis stars as a San Fernando Valley manicurist who finds herself in charge of three aliens after they crash-land their spaceship in her pool. With said transport broken down, Davis offers them head-to-toe makeovers (it’s the least she can do), turns the fuzzy aliens into a trio of attractive guys, and lets them loose on the dating scene. She promptly falls in love with the leader (Davis’s then-husband Jeff Goldblum); of course, it helps that her slimy fiance (Charles Rocket) is cheating on her left and right. Aside from its sunny California charm, the only other thing this film has to offer is a bouncy musical score, in particular two show-stopping numbers performed by costar (and the film’s cowriter) Julie Brown: “Brand New Girl,” in which Davis gets the requisite makeover (”If you want to be a femme fatale / You can’t rest on your L’Oreals!”), and the entirely irrelevant but absolutely hilarious cult hit “‘Cause I’m a Blonde.” Davis does her standard airhead thing (still a novelty in 1989) and Goldblum is a studly if silent lead. Make sure you pay close attention to Goldblum’s alien sidekicks, two then-unknown actors named Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans, both of whom manage to steal scenes with surprisingly understated charm. –Mark Englehart
